A few weeks ago I came across this post over at Moorea Seal’s blog and I have been thinking about it ever since. So many good points are made in this little article – it just really stuck with me.
Around this time I had just gotten my nails done and realized that I was actually really enjoying seeing the polish on my hands. I felt more manicured – more “together.” It was fun to see a little bit of color on my nails.
Like Diana in the guest post mentioned above, when I’m stressed, I tend to invest less time in myself. I start to feel like if I take that time, then I’m just being selfish and unproductive when there are so many other things that I should or could be doing. Reading that post made me realize that it really is ok to take a bit of a breather every once in awhile. And taking a little bit of time to do something simple for yourself, like paint your nails, can actually be a really nice way to take a few minutes to just relax and collect your thoughts in the middle of a busy day.
I’m currently in the process of letting my last manicure grow out (the new uv polish is really difficult to remove yourself unless you want to soak your nails in acetone – which I don’t particularly want to do), so I’ve been painting over it with other nail polish in the meantime.
Here is the polish I used this week. Turquoise-y blue is one of my favorite shades and the glitter just makes me smile.
The colors that I used were:Essie: Beach Bum Blu OPI: Last Friday Night OPI: Start to Finish Base & Top Coat (not pictured)
*** Keeping with the whole “healthy” aspect, I prefer polishes that are DBP, Formaldehyde, and Toluene Free so that is what you will usually see on the blog. ***
You can read more about Moorea’s “Paint Your Love” series here. It’s a really great series and I highly recommend checking it out. I will be adding one of the buttons for it to my blog soon!
