CB I Hate Perfume – In the Library (Source)
.) I’m a huge book nerd. For some reason, my mind is a steel trap for names of authors and titles of books. It’s kind of a silly thing, but it came in really handy when I worked at a bookstore in college.
.) When I was in elementary school, I used to beg my mom to take me to the library on weekends. I’d spend hours there, check out as many books as I possibly could (sometimes 10-15 books!), finish them all in a week, and then come back the next weekend ready to check out some new ones. After awhile, I’d read quite a few of the books in the kids/teens section of the local library and wasn’t sure what to read next. I was an extremely shy kid, so I was afraid to talk to the librarian, even though I really wanted to because she always had good suggestions for kids to read. One day I finally mustered up enough courage to go up to her desk. She ended up introducing me to a ton of books and authors that I may not have picked up on my own and are actually still some of my very favorite books.
.) It drives me nuts when I find a typo or spelling error in books. I know that sometimes those things still get through the editing process… but I always notice it and get a little thrown off from reading the actual story for a moment.
.) I love old books – especially children’s books and collections of children’s stories. I love the old covers, the smell of the books, and the old illustrations.
.) Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice and Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird are two of my favorite female literary characters. A lot of the time, I don’t like when books are made into movies (and sometimes if I really like the book I won’t even see the movie), but these two books are the exception. I’m not really a big fan of the newest movie adaptation of Pride and Prejudice… in my personal opinion the 1995 miniseries from BBC/A&E (the one with Colin Firth playing Mr. Darcy) is much better. Check it out here.
