I’ve been admiring the cute, summery, stitched-together looking plaid skirts that I’ve been seeing around this summer. Every time I find them in stores though, they’re always really expensive… and really short! I’m ok with mini skirts sometimes, but there is definitely a point when they are too short! Remember the “no hemlines above your fingertips” rule in middle school? A lot of the mini skirts that I’ve seen lately definitely wouldn’t have been allowed!
I like to be fashionable, but I also like to be comfortable. And, admittedly, I’m also a little clumsy. So when I drop something or something falls out of my purse, etc. (and chances are good that dropping something while wearing a super short skirt is greater than dropping something while wearing a reasonable length skirt/pants – it’s like a Murphy’s Law or something) and I have to bend down to pick it up, I don’t want to have to worry about flashing the world because of my too short skirt, thank you very much!
Anyway, I happened to find some similar fabric at Joann’s earlier this summer for a fraction of the price that I’ve seen the skirts in the stores going for, so I decided that I would make my own!

The Reasonable Length Modest Mini: Pretty Little Plaid Version
It was so easy to make! Even if you are a beginner sewist you can make one too.
I’ll share the tutorial with you later this weekend, so stay tuned!
