Spring Sewing List

March 12, 2012

A few weeks ago, while Mr. Sweet and I were cruising around Ikea looking for some new curtains, I picked up one of these nifty magnetic boards over in the workspace section. I hemmed and hawed over getting it for a few minutes before throwing it in the cart, but you know what? I really like it! It’s perfect for visually organizing projects that I would like to work on. The Pushpin magnets are from Walmart, but when I went back the next week to grab another pack, they didn’t have them anymore. Bummer. Those magnets were pretty fun.

Anyway, here’s some of the stuff on my project board for spring. Click on the images below to make them larger and see more detail.

And some pictures of some of the fabric here, just for fun!

It’s funny… I’m not usually a “florals girl” but I love these retro-inspired floral prints! I think that the black and white polka dot with the red flowers is my favorite.

Do you like retro or vintage inspired fabrics and/or garments?

A lot of the patterns on my list for spring are from Colette Patterns, including the Taffy blouse from the new book and the Sorbetto tank top (you can download the pattern for free¬†here). So far I’ve made a few of their patterns and they are really fun to sew. I can’t wait to try out more of them this season.

I figure that a lot of these garments will pair well with a cardigan in the spring and sans cardigan in the warmer summer weather. I’m really excited to jump in and start sewing a bit more of my wardrobe this season. I made a muslin for the Colette Peony dress bodice yesterday, and with a few more minor adjustments to the pattern, I think that I will be ready to start cutting into the fancy fabric soon.

What projects do you have planned for spring? Please share below! I’d love to hear.
